At age 73, Joan MacDonald from Ontario, Canada, had always had weight problems, even though she was busy. After knee surgery, she could hardly climb stairs. Joan’s health was at risk because she weighed 198 pounds and was on several medicines for high blood pressure, cholesterol, and heartburn.

Michelle, Joan’s daughter, was worried about her mother’s weight gain and getting worse arthritis, so she told her to join a makeover program. With Michelle’s help, Joan began her journey in January 2017 by eating better and working out regularly.

Even though Joan found online tools and iPhone apps to be too much at first, she kept going with the help of her family. She dropped 71 pounds and became a size 16. Her health also got a lot better.

By posting updates about her progress on Instagram, Joan got praise from fans, even younger guys. When she learned she could hip thrust her old weight, her confidence went through the roof.

Joan switched from eating artificial foods to eating healthy foods like meat, vegetables, smoothies, and egg whites. Her exercise plan called for daily cardio and regular trips to the gym.

Joan’s husband and other gym-goers told her how great she looked after she changed so much. She tells others to be patient and make changes slowly. She tells them to start small and get help from a professional.

Joan said, “I’ve never felt more sure of myself.” “I’ve found it easier to avoid fast food and plan to maintain my fitness routine indefinitely.” Her story shows how important it is to be determined and live a healthy life.
