Teachers Who Go the Extra Mile: Unsung Heroes in the Classroom

Teachers are very important to society because they shape the next generation with their hard work and love. Even though they are important, they don’t always get enough credit or money.

But they have an effect that goes far beyond the classroom. Let’s look at Jonathan Oliver, who teaches PE at Georgia’s WG Nunn Elementary School. During a basketball game, he helped Kristen Paulk, a kindergarten student, without expecting anything in return.

Oliver didn’t think twice when Kristen asked for help tying her hair back. He held her ponytail in place gently, making sure she was comfortable and could focus on the game. He had no idea that teacher Kandice Anderson had recorded the touching moment on film.

Oliver’s kindness was shown in the video “When your job goes beyond teaching!” which quickly went popular. The 34-year-old father of three told Good Morning America what he thought.

Oliver said, “I was shocked to see all the attention.” “We teachers strive to make students feel at home, loved, and supported.” Helping Kristen was just a kind thing for him to do.

Miyah Cleckley, Kristen’s mother, was moved to tears by the film. “I know Kristen is in good hands with him,” she stated. “He’s not just a teacher, but a role model.”

Many teachers go above and beyond for their kids, and this story shows some of them. They really are stars and should be praised and thanked.

Celebrate the unsung stars in our classrooms by telling this story to your family and friends.
