Stores Getting in the Christmas Spirit

Share

Several big stores are bravely embracing the true spirit of Christmas during a time of year that is often marked by controversy and commercialism. The American Family Association says these businesses are saying “Merry Christmas” to their customers instead of using general greetings, even though they are being told to do so.

Hobby Lobby is leading the way because it is known for always sticking to Christian morals. The craft shop is known as a stronghold of faith thanks to its instrumental music, Sunday closings, and Supreme Court case.

Other top-rated stores are Nordstrom and Belk, which both enjoy Christmas with gusto and don’t feel bad about it. Nordstrom waits until after Thanksgiving to prepare, so their workers can have a day off.

We also gave Home Depot, Wal-Mart, and Macy’s good marks for how often they used the word “Christmas.” The coveted “5-Star” award from the AFA was given to Wal-Mart in particular for its outstanding holiday advertising.

Even though JCPenney has been in trouble in the past, its Christmas theme in stores and online has helped it make up for it. Bass Pro Shops and Lowe’s both use their websites and ads to spread Christmas cheer.

This holiday season, even Toys ‘R Us, which is often seen as a secular store, surprised many by happily displaying a large “Christmas Catalogue” and using the word “Christmas.”

The strong Christmas energy shown by these stores is a testament to its lasting power. To show our appreciation as customers, we can shop at these places and happily say “Merry Christmas” to everyone.

We can take back Christmas from commercialism and give it back to its sacred meaning by supporting these businesses and accepting the true meaning of the season.

Let’s work together with these brave stores this holiday season to bring happiness, kindness, and the Christmas spirit to everyone we know.
