A relationship based on lies is a breach of trust.

Lana thought Ashton was the right person for her, but a shocking discovery showed a web of lies that broke up their relationship.

They met, fell in love, and then made the big move to live together. Ashton persuaded Lana that splitting the costs of a flat would save them money by splitting the bills in half. Lana trusted him, so she said yes.

After many years, their agreement still seemed perfect. But when Lana suggested that they buy a house together, Ashton wasn’t sure. Lana had doubts because he didn’t want to do it.

One terrible Saturday, while Ashton went to get dinner, Lana found papers that showed the unthinkable: Ashton owned their apartment. His mortgage had been paid for by her “rent” payments.

Lana felt a range of feelings when she talked to Ashton, from anger to sadness. She yelled, “You lied to me!” Ashton’s excuse, that his parents helped pay for the down payment, didn’t make sense.

Ashton’s lifestyle was paid for by Lana, who paid his whole mortgage while he saved his own money. She broke up with him because she felt cheated.

Even though Ashton begged Lana to forgive her and offered to pay the difference, Lana had already made up her mind. She started over and found comfort in being on her own.

After months, Ashton’s surprise bank payment put an end to the case. His action showed that he knew he was wrong, but it was too late. Lana had grown up and become smarter and more careful.

As a lesson, their story shows how important it is to earn and keep trust. Even the most loving relationships can end because of lies.
