Jamie Lee Curtis is sad about the death of her close friend and former co-star Richard Lewis. She is best known for her part as Laurie Strode in Halloween. The Kerb Your Enthusiasm star had a heart attack and died at the age of 76.
Curtis recently marked 25 years of sobriety and said that Lewis was a very important part of her journey. They were close because they worked together on the show Anything But Love from 1989 to 1992.
Curtis shared touching pictures and memories of Lewis on Instagram, talking about how much he meant to her. She said, “He blew everyone else away” at his tryout. The show was a hit because of how well they got along on TV.
Curtis loved their time together on set and thought Lewis’s humour and quirks were very funny. She also admitted that he had trouble doing stand-up comedy in front of real people.
Lewis’s help during hard times, like when common friends Richard Frank and John Ritter died, meant the world to Curtis. In his last text message, he said that he hoped more episodes of Anything But Love would be revealed.
“He’s the reason I’m sober,” Curtis said, thankful for Lewis’s help and kindness.
Cheryl Hines, who also worked with Lewis on Kerb Your Enthusiasm, paid respect, pointing out how much he loved and cared for those close to him.
In a moving goodbye, Curtis told Lewis’s wife, Joyce Lapinsky, and their family how sorry she was for their loss. “Richard, I love you. We will miss you.
The moving tributes by Curtis and Hines captured the essence of Lewis’s lasting memory and the deep effect he had on those who knew him.
