In a shocking turn of events, Prince Harry’s autobiography Spare revealed that the legendary musician Elton John turned him down. Harry asked Elton to sing “Candle in the Wind” at a memorial for his late mother, Princess Diana, but Elton said no because he thought it was too “macabre.”

Diana was close friends with Elton, and he famously sang a special version of Candle in the Wind at her funeral in 1997. The song was first released as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe, but it was re-released in honor of Diana, and the money from it went to her causes.

After the sad funeral, Harry remembered, “The music climaxing, my eyes stinging, and tears nearly dropping.” In spite of this, Elton chose to sing Your Song at the homage in 2007, choosing a happier tone.

Elton has stayed close to Diana’s boys and even spoke out for Harry and Meghan when they were criticized by the media in 2019. But Harry’s autobiography also showed that he and Prince William have a painful disagreement. Harry said that their late mother would be very upset about their fight.

In a shocking statement, Harry said that William hit him after calling Meghan names. This shocking news puts new light on the private problems the royal family is having.
