Thoughts of my broken life filled my mind as I drove home on a dark day. It poured down rain, which matched my mood. Our wedding had been called off, and I had just lost my job.
But then I saw something upsetting: a little girl crying out for help through the back window of a school bus.
I quickly followed the bus and stepped in, where I saw that the girl, Chelsea, was having an asthma attack.
Her inhaler wasn’t where she thought it was, but I finally found it in the bag of another student. I was shocked by how careless the bus driver was and how mean the other kids were. However, Chelsea’s daring and kindness moved me. It was painful for her to be alone, and I didn’t get why the other kids found it funny.
The parents of Chelsea were grateful, and Mrs. Stewart, Chelsea’s mother, offered me a job at their company.
I learnt that helping Chelsea had begun a new part of my life when the interview turned into a job offer. Life’s problems can sometimes lead to chances you didn’t expect.
Not only did my brave action save Chelsea, it also changed my life. I learnt that being kind and brave can help make things better, even when things are hard.
When I thought about that day, I saw that I had been given another chance. That was the right thing to do, even though it was tough.
It paid off in ways I never thought possible. I was proud of how brave I was and how I changed someone’s life. I was sure that I would be brave and sure of myself no matter what hurdles lay ahead.
