A Lesson in Being Responsible

My brother Mike was no longer taking care of our elderly grandma the way he used to. Even though she had back pain, she did all the housework while he hung out, played video games, and told her what to do. I knew I had to step in.

During my visit, I saw for myself how unfair it was that Grandma had to carry this load. She was hurt and tired, but she still tried to make Mike happy. I chose to handle things myself and teach Mike a lesson he would never forget.

I planned a surprise party for him and invited his friends and other people he knows. But this wasn’t any old party. I had a plan to show Mike how selfish he was and teach him how important family and duty are.

Mike had a messy house, dirty dishes, and no clean clothes when his friends showed up. His friends were shocked and amused by what was going on, and soon they were all talking about how careless he was.

When Mike yelled at Grandma and made fun of her in front of everyone, that was the last straw. The room went quiet, and his friends told him he was wrong for what he did. We all went to the party, but Mike was locked in his room by himself.

My plan worked out. Mike had to deal with the results of what he did, and I hoped that this would teach him something. I was set on making sure Grandma got the respect and care she earned. This was my promise to her.

As the night ended, I felt happy and satisfied. Mike learnt a lesson, and I protected my grandma. I hoped that Mike would own up to his mistakes and treat our grandma with the love and respect she deserved from now on.
