Kindness: A young boy’s plea for his mother’s health

Share

Jack, then ten years old, did something brave because he worried about his mother, Debra, who worked hard as a cleaner to meet their basic needs. He went to her place of work to ask for a day off so she could have a much-needed break.

For months, Debra, a single mum, had been working nonstop to make ends meet. But her body was aching from being so tired. Jack’s choice to talk to her boss, Mr. Jefferson, was the start of a trip that would change her life.

After hearing Jack’s plea, Mr. Jefferson realised how important family time was and gave Debra a new chance: she could work for his family and live in a cosy cottage on their land. By doing this, Debra was able to spend real time with Jack and still make money.

As Debra and Jack got used to their new life, they finally had time to get to know each other and make memories. Their story is a lesson that acts of kindness and selflessness can make a big difference, even when things are hard.

This sweet story teaches us two important things:

Take care of your health first. Debra’s tiredness reminds us to pay attention to our bodies and rest when we need to.

First, family: Debra and Mr. Jefferson learnt that their jobs shouldn’t get in the way of their family duties. It’s important to spend valuable time with people you care about.

Tell your family and friends this moving story to remember them how important it is to take care of themselves and spend time together as a family. Be inspired by Jack’s generous act and Mr. Jefferson’s kindness to make a difference in the lives of those around you.
