While I fed our newborn son, my husband didn’t save any dinner food for me.

When my baby boy was born, I was thrown into the chaos of being a new mum. He changed my life forever.

But while I was figuring out how to care for my baby, my mother-in-law’s intrusive presence made me worry that our home would fall apart.

As a way to help, she brought a lot of people into our house, which made things more chaotic and made it hard for me to meet my basic needs.

One night, after feeding my son for hours, I found that no one had saved me a meal. This led to a heated fight that showed how badly our family was functioning.

I went to my mother for help when I felt alone and helpless, but my husband accused me and made me look like the bad guy.

I needed help badly and called my husband’s father-in-law.

He saw how important it was and stepped in, telling my husband to take on more responsibilities and telling his wife to give us room.

This decisive action changed our home into a more loving and caring place. It showed me how advocacy and understanding can change the way our family works.
