The loss of a child is a tragedy that no family should ever face, and for the family of Ava Ann Marie Tabor, that tragedy has become their reality. The 2-year-old girl from Arkansas, known for her radiant smile and joyful spirit, passed away on March 4, 2025, after a horrific incident that has left her community in shock.
Ava was born on November 28, 2022, in Texarkana, Texas. She was a happy and loving child who brought immense joy to her parents, Kylie Marie Perez and Levi Landon James Tabor. Ava loved dancing, helping in the kitchen, and spending time with her family.
But on a tragic day in early March, Ava’s life was cut short. She was under the care of 19-year-old Wesley Davis in Lockesburg, Arkansas, when he allegedly harmed her. Davis reportedly called for medical assistance after Ava became unresponsive and later confessed to beating her.
Despite the efforts of doctors at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, Ava could not be saved. Her death has left her family and community grappling with grief and anger.
Ava’s mother, Kylie Perez, shared her heartbreak on Facebook, writing, “The last time I held my baby… after two years of putting you to bed, making your bottles, playing with you, waking you up, saying goodbye to you, and listening to your little concerts in the car… it’s over. No more Ava kisses, no more ‘momma c’mon,’ no more baby loves… You took this from me, Wesley Davis. YOU TOOK MY WORLD. I won’t stop until you get what you deserve. AVA ANN MARIE TABOR, I love you. You’ll always be mommy’s baby. I’ll never forget you.”
Wesley Davis was arrested and initially charged with first-degree domestic battery. After Ava’s death, the charges were upgraded to first-degree murder. A judge set his bond at $1 million and issued a no-contact order to protect Ava’s family.
The case has sparked outrage in the community, with many calling for justice. Sheriff Robert Gentry acknowledged the emotional impact, noting that there have been threats against Davis. He urged the public to let the legal system handle the case, promising that justice would be served.
In a final act of kindness, Ava’s family chose to donate her organs, giving others a chance at life. Her funeral will be held on March 13 at Chandler Funeral Home in De Queen, Arkansas, with a visitation service the evening before.
Ava’s story is a heartbreaking reminder of the importance of protecting our children and cherishing every moment with them. As her family prepares to say goodbye, they hold onto the love and light she brought into their lives.
