Goldie Hawn’s Emotional Oscars Revelation

The 2025 Oscars were a night of glitz, glamour, and heartfelt moments, but none were as poignant as Goldie Hawn’s candid admission about her health.

As she took the stage with Andrew Garfield to present the award for Best Animated Feature Film, Hawn began her speech with her trademark charm. “I was so fortunate to make movies… and make people laugh,” she said. “It’s okay if some people didn’t.”

But then she paused, struggling to read the teleprompter. Turning to Garfield, she admitted, “Can you read that, darling? I am unable to read that.”

Hawn went on to reveal, “I am totally blind. I mean, I am,” before explaining that she has cataracts. Cataracts, which cause cloudy patches on the eye’s lens, can lead to vision impairment and even blindness if left untreated. They are more common in older adults due to the natural breakdown of proteins in the lens.

Garfield, ever the supportive co-presenter, calmly reassured her, “OK, I’ve got you,” and continued with the ceremony.

The moment was both heartbreaking and heartwarming, especially when Garfield shared how Hawn’s work had profoundly impacted his late mother. “You’ve provided us with joyful films,” he said. “You have repeatedly improved our mood and given us the impression that everything is well.”

Hawn’s candid revelation and Garfield’s heartfelt tribute made their presentation one of the most memorable moments of the night.
