When everything in life seems to be going wrong, it’s easy to believe kindness is rare. But sometimes, even a stranger can do something so selfless that it changes your entire perspective.
I had my son when I was 17. His father left, and my parents wanted nothing to do with me. With no support and no way to make ends meet, I soon found myself in an impossible situation. One day, I ran out of food.
Desperate, I went to my friends for help, carrying my little boy in my arms. I begged for anything they could spare, but they had nothing to give. Heartbroken, I wandered the streets, crying, unsure of where to go next.
It was raining when a car pulled up beside me. A man leaned out the window and said, “Hop in, I’ll give you a ride.”
I hesitated, but the rain was coming down hard, and I had nowhere else to go. So, I got in.
During the drive, I told him everything. My struggles, my fears, how I didn’t know what to do anymore. He listened without interrupting, then reached into his wallet and handed me $100.
That money changed my life. It helped me pay for daycare and find a job. Things didn’t magically get better overnight, but it was enough to give me hope.
Now, my son is 30. I never saw that man again, but I think about him often. His kindness reminded me that even in my darkest moments, there were still good people in the world. And that made all the difference.
