John Nelson, a passenger on the Delta Airlines flight that crash-landed in Toronto, has recounted the terrifying moments when the plane flipped upside down. The incident, which occurred on February 17, saw all 80 people on board survive, despite 18 being injured.

John described the approach to the runway as uneventful, though he noticed the strong winds and snowy conditions. “The runway looked different because of the snow,” he said. “But the real shock came when we hit the ground.”

The plane skidded and flipped, leaving passengers suspended upside down. “There was a fireball, and the smell of jet fuel was everywhere,” John said. “Everyone was screaming to get out, and it was complete chaos.”

Thanks to the quick response of emergency crews, everyone was able to evacuate safely. John and others have called the survival of all on board a miracle, highlighting the bravery and efficiency of the first responders.
