The Accusation That Tore Them Apart

The words Hope She Was Worth It were etched into Henry’s car, a cruel and unexpected accusation that left him reeling. He turned to Emily, his pregnant wife, hoping for comfort, but instead, he saw doubt clouding her eyes. No matter how many times he swore he had never cheated, the damage had already been done. The truth, however, was far more twisted than a simple case of infidelity. This wasn’t the act of a jealous outsider—it was the work of someone much closer to him.

Emily clung to him, her body shaking with sobs as she whispered, “I’m sorry, Henry. I didn’t want to believe it, but I just… I didn’t know what to think.” He held her tightly, his heart breaking as he murmured, “It’s okay. This isn’t your fault, Emily.” But someone was responsible, and that person was standing right there, watching them.

Claire stood a few feet away, her arms crossed and her expression unreadable. But Henry could see the faint glimmer of regret in her eyes. It wasn’t the kind of remorse that came from true guilt, though. It was something colder, more calculated. She knew what she had done, and whether she truly regretted it was another matter entirely.
