As a child in Stratford, Ontario, Justin Bieber was a normal kid who liked to play football and hockey. But he had big dreams, and one of them was to buy his mom a house. He lived in subsidised housing with mice.
When Justin went to church, he would be amazed at the drummer and become really interested in music. He learnt to play the drums and the piano, guitar, and horn on his own. Every step of the way, even when they couldn’t afford drum kits, his mom Pattie was there for him.
At the age of 12, Justin competed in a local talent show and came in second place with an emotional version of Ne-Yo’s “So Sick.” Because his mom put the movie on YouTube, it was the start of his rise to fame.
Justin’s luck got better as his singing skills got better. He first made money by singing pop songs while brushing his teeth in front of a Stratford theatre. He even made enough money to take his family to Disneyland for the first time, which was a dream come true.
When Justin thinks about his humble roots, he feels thankful. He had a happy childhood even though they didn’t have much money. It taught him how important it is to work hard and value money. His proud grandpa, Bruce Dale, says that Justin is a bright and hard-working young man who became famous by working hard and not giving up.
Scooter Braun, a rising star in the music business, found Justin’s YouTube videos and gave him his big break. Braun was blown away by Justin’s amazing singing voice and set out to find him. He kept calling his mum until he finally did. As the saying goes, the rest is history.
