The Two-Faced Drawing: A Test of Age and Smarts

Share

Two psychology teachers from Australia’s Flinders University made an interesting drawing that has been attracting college students from other countries with its smart design. At first glance, it looks like the picture is of an old woman. But when you look more closely, you can see a younger woman that was hidden in the same picture.

Not only is this interesting drawing a test of knowledge and observation skills, it’s also a unique way to tell how old someone is. People over 32 years old are more likely to notice the older woman first, while people under 32 years old are more likely to notice the younger woman first.

The smart design of the drawing needs a good eye for detail, and the fact that it can show someone’s age has gotten a lot of attention. If you’re having trouble finding the younger woman, look for her left cheek when you look at her face. That’s the chin of the older woman. Can you find the younger woman?
