When I caught my husband Brian with another woman, my whole world turned upside down. He threw me out of our beautiful house without any reason, which broke my heart. I had no idea that Richard, Brian’s grandfather, had a plan that would make everything different.
Richard has always been like a father to me. He is smart and kind. When he called me after what happened, I wasn’t sure if I should answer at first, but his words of support and relief gave me the strength to keep going. We agreed to meet because I was interested in what he had in mind.
Richard told a shocking truth over coffee. The house we lived in was always owned by Richard, not Brian. Richard let Brian live there for free. Everything changed when I learnt this. Richard came up with a way to help me get back into my house and teach Brian a lesson.
The plan was simple and smart. Brian had been wanting to do some repairs, and Richard would act like he would pay for them. In reality, he would get Brian to take out a big loan himself. After the repairs were done, Richard would tell me that the house now belonged to me, leaving Brian with the loan and the effects of what he did.
At first, I wasn’t sure, but Richard’s confidence and drive made me change my mind. I began to act like I was moving on with my life after we made the plan. Brian, on the other hand, had no idea what was happening, so he and his mistress kept working on the improvements.
It was finally time to get things in order. Richard got Brian, his lover, and me together and told us the truth. Brian was shocked and confused. He was about to lose all of his money and his relationship with his woman was over.
On the other hand, I felt like I had won and was relieved. Without Richard’s help, I would not have been able to start over after taking back my home. Although it was painful, the event taught me important lessons about being strong, having people like Richard in my life, and being able to bounce back from setbacks.
I felt calm and thankful as I looked around my new, nicely fixed-up home. I knew I still had a long way to go, but Richard’s help and advice made me ready to take on any tasks that came my way. I took back my home, and in doing so, I found myself again.
