The world will never forget Rob Burrow, who was a star in rugby league and a dedicated supporter of motor neurone disease (MND) awareness. Recently, Rob’s wife Lindsey told him a touching story about the secret messages he recorded for their children to treasure in the years to come.

In a touching interview with BBC Breakfast, Lindsey talked about how proud she was of Rob’s amazing impact. Rob encouraged a lot of people as the face of MND, and his kindness made the world a better place.

After Rob’s death, the Burrow family got a lot of support, including a touching message from Prince William. Lindsey loved the prince’s words, which recognised Rob’s great spirit and the importance of his memory.

Rob and Lindsey fell in love when they were teens, and in 2006 they got married. The three beautiful kids they had together were named Macy, Maya, and Jackson. The private texts Rob left behind, like birthday wishes and wise words for the future, showed how much he loved his family.

Lindsey told her that Rob recorded these messages with a special tool that turned the movements of his eyes into text. The family still finds it hard to listen to these recordings again, but they will definitely treasure them in the years to come.

Rob had an amazing career that lasted over 400 games with the Leeds Rhinos. He won many awards, including eight Super League Grand Finals. His bravery and strength in the face of MND inspired a whole country, and his memory continues to bring attention to the cause and raise money for it.

Rob was given a CBE in the 2024 New Year’s Honours, along with his old teammate Kevin Sinfield, in recognition of his hard work. They raised more than £15 million for groups that help people with MND.

The rugby league community is coming together to honour Rob’s life. His family is comforted by the thought that his love and memory will continue to inspire people in the years to come.
