Dear friends and family, Beandri Booysen, a bright and brave young woman, has died at the age of 19. Beandri had a strong spirit even though she was born with Hutchinson-Gilford Progeria Syndrome, a rare and crippling genetic disorder. Her story has inspired many people all over the world.
Beandri was diagnosed with cancer when she was only seven months old. Her life showed how strong and determined she was. Eight times faster than usual, her condition makes the body age at an alarming rate. It only affects one in four million people. But Beandri wouldn’t let her disease define her. She lived her life to the fullest by going to school and following her dreams.
Beandri was able to connect with thousands of people online, especially on TikTok, where she shared her stories and brought attention to progeria. For her, “Be yourself.” Take care of yourself. People who followed her were moved by her bravery and positivity and said, “Believe in yourself.”
Beandri’s life was tragically cut short. She left behind a heartbroken family and a community of fans who admired how strong and tough she was. Beandri was described by her mother, Bea, as having a “vibrant personality” and being a “symbol of awareness” for older people and people with special needs.
As the comments on social media poured in, it was clear that Beandri would be missed for a long time. The fact that her family wants privacy during this hard time is a lesson to treasure the memories of this amazing young woman who taught us to be brave, happy, and grateful for every moment.
We will always remember Beandri and be inspired to enjoy the time we have and live our lives with the same courage and hope that she showed every day.
