Every bride dreams of a perfect wedding day, but one woman’s big plans to make sure the party went perfectly went horribly wrong. On Reddit’s “Am I the Arsehole” thread, she asked people what they thought about her strict wedding rules. Most of the responses were negative.
The bride said that she and her fiancé had made a list of rules for their guests, which said that cell phones were not allowed during the ceremony or dinner. Some guests got the “unplugged ceremony” rule, but a lot of them thought that the ban on dinner was too much.
Among the other rules was a strict dress code that said all guests had to wear black. The bride was rigid and wouldn’t bend the rules, not even for her aunt, who had just started wearing bright clothes again after a time of grief.
The couple had also pre-ordered dresses for the girls and told them to stay healthy, which made the bride’s mother very angry. She said the wedding was “doomed from the start.” Another thing the bride’s maid of honour was asked to do was leave her flower girl daughter at a hotel with a babysitter. She refused to do this.
Because of these strict rules, guests started cancelling at the last minute, which upset the pair. Redditors were quick to call the bride and groom “arseholes” for not being able to change their minds. Many people said that couples should be able to plan their wedding however they want, but guests shouldn’t have to agree to unreasonable requests and should be able to turn down the offer.
On Reddit, most people agreed that the couple’s rules were too strict and ridiculous, which made their loved ones dislike them. How do you feel about these two’s wedding rules? Leave your thoughts in the box below.
