The Secret of a Manicurist

Share

With a loving husband like Adam and a job I loved as a teacher, my life seemed perfect. But while I was getting my nails done, something terrible happened. Lily, my manicurist, told me about her hidden lover. She said he was good-looking, successful, and a manager. It made my heart skip a beat because it sounded so much like Adam.

When Lily showed me a picture, it confirmed my worst fears. I felt lied to, angry, and shocked. What kind of trick could Adam pull on me? We wanted to start a family, and I thought our bond was strong as a rock.

I planned my payback with James, Lily’s husband, who was just as shocked as I was. We came up with a way to catch Adam and Lily in the act at the small hotel where they were meant to have met. With paint that couldn’t be washed off, we got ready for a fight.

But when we walked into the hotel room, there was a birthday party waiting for us. With innocent smiles on their faces, Adam and Lily were surrounded by balloons, streamers, and loved ones. With paint cans in my hands, I stood there frozen, embarrassed and grateful.

Adam told me that they had planned the surprise together, which made me feel ashamed, thankful, and in love. We laughed, made passionate toasts, and had a good time. A funny touch finished the night: “CHEATER!!!!” was written in lipstick on Adam’s car windscreen.

Adam laughed as we washed off the writing and said, “It’s washable, and it’ll make a great story for our kids.” Our birthday party turned into an unforgettable journey that brought us closer together.
