When Mark got back from a work trip, his neighbor Sandra had “borrowed” his Halloween decorations without his permission.
His complicated set-up, which included skulls, graveyard tombstones, and a huge spider, was in her yard instead of his.
Mark’s anger grew as he saw Sandra’s house become the center of attention in the neighborhood. Trick-or-treaters and their parents were drawn to his decorations because they sparkled in the porch lights.
Mark came up with a plan to get back the thunder that was taken from him. He sneaked into Sandra’s yard at night and wrote a big message on her fence: “I STEAL MY NEIGHBOR’S DECORATIONS TO WIN A PRIZE FOR THE BEST DECORATED HOUSE!”
The decorations were looked at by judges from the neighborhood board the next morning. They were shocked when they saw Sandra’s fence, which was now a work of art by Mark. For his “collaborative effort” with Sandra, the judges gave Mark the “Best Decorated House” award.
Sandra’s angry response only made Mark’s victory bigger. He said, “Happy Halloween, Sandra,” enjoying the sweet taste of being right.
