Fans of country music star Reba McEntire love how down-to-earth she is. But what many people may not know is that her humility didn’t come from her country roots. Reba recently talked about her family life in a way that not many people have heard before. She talked about the values that shaped the way she raised her children.
Reba grew up on a ranch in Oklahoma. Her background taught her to be humble and work hard. “If you say you’ll be somewhere at a certain time, you show up,” her parents told her. This advice has stuck with her all her life.
She was already a famous star when she had her son Shelby in 1990. She knew, though, that raising him would be hard because she wanted to make sure he stayed grounded. Reba chose to put Shelby’s character growth first on purpose.
“I never let Shelby win when we played games or cards,” she said. He learnt from what I told him: “I love you, but I want other people to like you too.” “Don’t act like a spoilt brat.”” Shelby was raised by Reba and Narvel Blackstock, who used to be her husband. She became kind and humble.
People who know Shelby, who is now a famous race car driver, say nice things about how he was raised. “People say you’d never know he was lucky to have the life he did,” Reba said with pride. She says that both she and her ex-husband taught her to be kind and understanding.
Reba also talked about Shelby’s ADHD and how it turned out to affect his childhood. Shelby used to have trouble reading, but now she reads a lot, and Reba is so proud of her.
“Shelby’s always trying to improve and do better,” she stated. “God gave me him as a gift.” We’re pretty close.” Reba’s love for her son was clear at Walt Disney World, where she enjoyed his fairy tale wedding to Marissa.
Reba McEntire shows through her honest thoughts how powerful selfless parenting can be and how important it is to teach compassion and humility to the next generation. She is a great example of motherly love for how much she loves Shelby.
