People who shop at TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and HomeGoods may see workers wearing body cameras. This is a new safety measure put in place by parent company TJX Companies for both customers and employees.
The cameras will be worn by trained workers as part of safety policies, training, and processes as a whole.
Carol Spieckerman, a retail expert, says that TJX shops’ unique way of keeping track of inventory can make it hard to keep up. “The treasure-hunt atmosphere makes people want to come back often,” she said.
It’s not clear when the cameras are turned on and off, but TJX will only share footage with the police or when they are asked to.
What do you think about this safety measure? Will it make shopping safer, or is it too much?
