I never thought I’d meet a famous person who was so cocky like the one I met on my way to Europe. He was famous in his area for acting like a queen on reality TV, and he lived up to that name.
He told me I had to move because he needed more room as I settled into my first-class seat. The way he talked down to me and smiled made my blood boil.
I didn’t give up, though. I claimed to think about his request, but then I offered to trade seats with a pregnant woman and her young child who were stuck in economy class.
When the famous person saw that he would be sitting next to a fussy child and her loud mother, he got very angry.
Being aware that the famous person had received what he earned made me feel good as I left. The woman who was pregnant was glad for the upgrade and didn’t think twice about telling the famous person what she thought.
She asked him if he was the same famous person who always got bad press. He didn’t say anything because he was so angry.
As I leaned back in my economy seat, I was happy and enjoyed the lyrical justice. The famous person got more space, which is what he asked for, but not in the way he thought it would be. Instead, he had to deal with a picky kid and a mother who wouldn’t hold back from telling him off.
I couldn’t help but smile as the flight attendants started to show us how to stay safe. The star’s arrogance had finally caught up with him, and he was about to learn a lesson in respect for the next few hours. The fact that I helped him learn it made me happy.
I realised at that moment that giving someone what they want is sometimes the best way to teach them a lesson. On that day, the famous person learnt that life doesn’t always give you what you want. I also learnt that the best payback is sometimes the kind that isn’t planned but just happens.
