Six Nyamane, whose real name is Mpume, is capturing hearts as Nozipho Cele on SABC 1’s “Generations: The Legacy.” Known for her dynamic roles in shows like “Scandal!” and “Rhythm City,” Nyamane’s journey to fame is both inspiring and unconventional.

The name “Six” hails from her days as a hockey player, where she played in position six. The nickname stuck, even as she transitioned into acting. Nyamane’s acting career began unexpectedly during her first year at the University of South Africa (Unisa).

Initially studying finance, she found herself drawn to acting after a chance encounter at the gym. Encouraged by a stranger’s comment about her “face for television,” she began attending auditions and quickly landed her first role.

Raised in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal, Nyamane moved to Johannesburg with dreams of pursuing a career, though her family preferred she follow a more traditional academic path. Despite her mother’s initial disapproval, Nyamane secretly juggled auditions and school, eventually choosing her passion for acting over her finance studies.

Her persistence paid off as she continued to secure acting roles, proving her dedication to her craft. Over time, her mother recognized Nyamane’s commitment and talent, ultimately supporting her daughter’s career choice.

Now at 25, and a mother herself, Nyamane has firmly established herself in the South African entertainment industry, with her performances leaving a lasting impression on audiences.
