Eleanor, who lived in a care home, was having a hard time making ends meet since she gave her son Andrew control of her money. But one day, a strange gift changed everything.
Many elderly people, including Eleanor, lived in the nursing home, which was a cute house with a cute garden. With images of the past all around her, she spent most of her days sitting in her favourite armchair. Andrew, her son, would sometimes come to visit, but his motives were not good.
Andrew only stayed for a short time each time, and he often got Eleanor to sign papers that gave him control of her money. Eleanor had grown to like Nurse Claire, so she would often step in to protect the old woman from her son’s advances.
As Claire walked Eleanor around the yard one day, she talked about how worried she was about Andrew’s plans. But Eleanor stayed cool because she thought her son wanted what was best for her.
But Claire’s worries were confirmed when Andrew came back with a lawyer and put pressure on Eleanor to sign over the rest of her property. Eleanor signed the papers even though Claire told her not to because she trusted her son to do the right thing.
A few days went by, and Eleanor’s position looked bad. Then, a strange gift showed up at the nursing home and changed everything. A lot of money was given in Eleanor’s name, along with a note that said, “For the care of Eleanor, with love and gratitude.”
There was a spark in Eleanor’s eyes as Claire read the letter out loud. Her voice was filled with feeling as she yelled, “That’s my husband’s signature!”
Eleanor’s life changed after she gave the money. She saw that her son’s betrayal wasn’t the end of the world and that people could still be kind and generous. Because of the gift, the nursing home could keep running, and Eleanor could spend her last days in peace and comfort.
Claire felt peaceful and happy when she looked at Eleanor. It had been a long time since she had felt that way. Kindness and the thought that “what goes around comes around” were shown through Eleanor’s story.
