The state of Sarah’s garden was always getting bad feedback from her neighbour, Mrs Cardigan, who was a loving mother. Sarah decided to feel sorry for the person even though they said mean things. When Mrs. Cardigan and two other neighbours showed up at her door ready to argue, Sarah had a treat for them: “Please come in.”

Sarah told her story as they walked in. Their young son had a breathing problem that could kill him, and her husband worked hard at a low-paying job after losing his previous job. Because the family’s goals had changed, they didn’t have much time or money to do garden work.

It surprised Mrs. Cardigan, Mrs. Levy, and Mr. Sanders. When they realised the problems going on behind Sarah’s door, they stopped making fun of her and said sorry.

“We had no idea,” Mrs. Levy said with sadness in her voice. “We truly hope your baby recovers soon.”

It was amazing to see how the neighbours changed. They were willing to help, and soon Mr. Sanders was cutting Sarah’s grass while Mrs. Cardigan and Mrs. Levy took care of the garden. More neighbours came over with flowers and tools to fix up the front of the house.

Sarah shed tears of thanks as she saw her town come together. Andy, her husband, said it best: “People are good at heart; we just need to remind them every once in a while.”
