Legendary Musician and Author Kinky Friedman Passes Away

Kinky Friedman, the beloved Texas singer-songwriter and author, has died at his Echo Hill home surrounded by loved ones.

Despite facing immense pain and loss in recent years, Kinky’s indomitable spirit and wit remained unwavering.

His legacy will live on through his music and writings. Kinky’s journey began with his first band, King Arthur & the Carrots, at the University of Texas at Austin.

He later formed the Texas Jewboys, releasing his self-titled album in 1974. Kinky’s music career spanned 18 albums, including his latest, Circus of Life, in 2018.

Beyond music, Kinky wrote detective novels featuring a fictionalized version of himself as a wisecracking, crime-fighting protagonist. His writing career also included a column for Texas Monthly and various books, showcasing his humor and charm.

Kinky’s larger-than-life personality and talent will be deeply missed, but his work will continue to entertain and inspire fans worldwide.
