Unlike the high-profile romance of Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez, Jennifer Garner has been quietly dating away from the limelight. Garner, 51, has been in an on-and-off relationship with businessman John Miller, and the couple prefers to keep things low-key.
Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck’s split in 2018 wasn’t shocking to fans, especially with Affleck quickly rekindling his relationship with Jennifer Lopez. The public eagerly followed their reunion, leading to a happy marriage and J.Lo’s new single “Can’t Get Enough,” dedicated to Affleck. In contrast, little was known about Garner’s new relationship with John Miller.
Reports suggest that Garner and Miller began dating six months before her divorce from Affleck was finalized. Despite the split in 2015, Garner and Affleck continue to co-parent their three children: Violet, 17, Seraphina, 14, and Samuel, 10.
So, who is John Miller? Born in 1978, Miller is an attorney and CEO of the fast-food chain CaliBurger and its parent company, CaliGroup. Previously, he served as VP of intellectual property at Arrowhead Pharmaceuticals. Miller was married to American violinist Caroline Campbell from 2005 to 2014, and they share two children, Violet and Quest.
Garner and Miller, who have been dating for five years, enjoy their privacy. “She loves how little he cares for the limelight or the whole Hollywood scene,” a source told Us Weekly. “They’re happier being a regular, under-the-radar couple and don’t need anyone else’s validation.”
After a brief split between August 2020 and spring 2021, the couple has been going strong. Initially, Miller was ready for marriage, but Garner wasn’t ready to commit at the time. Friends say they share a mutually beneficial relationship, bringing out the best in each other. “John is so smitten and caring but not in an overbearing way,” said a source. “He gives Jen space when she needs it but is there for her when it matters.”
In July 2022, fans were curious about Garner’s reaction to Affleck’s marriage to Lopez. However, Garner and Miller were often seen together, radiating happiness and unaffected by Affleck’s elopement.
By January 2023, Entertainment Tonight reported that Affleck was seen chatting happily with Miller when Garner and her boyfriend arrived at Affleck’s house. The couple was also spotted shopping together in Santa Barbara, showing they were more comfortable with public displays of affection.
Garner and Miller are gradually becoming more open about their relationship, often seen holding hands, sharing kisses, or jogging together. “Jen’s not nearly as shy as she once was with John because they’re a lot more comfortable and secure with each other,” said a source. “She’s proud to show him off.”
In November 2023, an insider told Us Weekly that Garner and Miller are “in a great place.” They’ve become very secure in their relationship, even celebrating Garner’s 50th birthday by bringing their families together for a food drive. However, they’re not rushing into becoming a blended family. For now, Garner is “perfectly happy cherishing and enjoying what they have without a formal label.”
“Jen and John have a really special relationship,” added another insider. “After having so much of her marriage with Affleck in the spotlight, she really enjoys being with someone who isn’t a celebrity.”
