At a cute café, I never thought I would find out that my father-in-law, Richard, was having an affair with his lover, Elizabeth. But that’s exactly what took place. It made my heart race with shame and anger as I watched them kiss.
Richard had always scared me because he was rich and powerful. But I stood my ground at that time. He told me he would ruin my life if I told anyone about him, but I wouldn’t give in.
“You can’t keep your trousers on, so why ruin my life?” I fired back without fear.
But Richard had no idea that fate was already at work. It was his best friend and boss, Charles, on the other end of the phone.
Richard didn’t know that Charles had been calling his wife Elizabeth all afternoon. At that very moment, he heard the whole argument between us.
Charles cut ties with Richard right away and took his money out of his business. Richard’s business started to fall apart. On the other hand, Charles surprised me by making me the head designer at his business.
What I see now is that all it took to bring down Richard’s dishonest world was being in the right place at the right time. I’m thankful for it.
