As I settled into my seat with my daughter Ella, five, I thought the two-hour flight would go smoothly. But little did I know that our trip would turn into a crazy ride full of temper tantrums, broken iPads, and bad luck.
A family of three across the aisle was having a hard time keeping their young son busy. His cries and kicks got worse, and his mom got more angry.
Then she did something brave: she told me to put Ella’s iPad away because it was making her son upset. I politely said no, and you could feel the strain between us.
An angry mom “accidentally” broke Ella’s iPad screen when she threw it to the floor. This turned out to be a dramatic turn of events. She didn’t expect the chaos that would follow, though.
This was the worst temper tantrum her son had ever had. In the commotion, her coffee cup fell and damaged her passport beyond repair.
As the flight staff tried to help, the mother became more and more scared. Her connecting flight to Paris was in danger, so she had to change the whole trip’s plans. It served as a stark warning that what we do has results, and sometimes karma takes over.
As we got off the boat, I couldn’t help but think about how uncertain travel is and how important it is to be patient and understanding.
We walked hand-in-hand, thankful for the new view this crazy flight had given us. What about Entitled Mom? She learned something important about fate that she would remember long after the plane touched down.
