They made my lawn into a parking lot, so I taught my cocky neighbours a cruel lesson.

While I sit on my porch, surrounded by memories that will last a lifetime, I am reminded of how determined I am.

Someone was mowing down my beautiful yard, which was a reminder of the life my late husband Harold and I built together.

These people thought I was an old widow who would give in easily to their advances. They were wrong, though.

The last straw was when they parked on my yard, and I knew I had to do something. I put small tacks all over the area with a strong determination to protect my property. The next morning, I loved the sound of tires hissing.

After that, there was a heated argument, but I stood my ground, which is what Harold would have wanted.

When the cops showed up, the man got angry and then sad because he was going to be charged with trespassing, harassment, and damage to property.

Following that day, my neighbours stayed away, and my yard was finally free of noise. I stood up for my safe place, my honour, and the experiences that make this house a home.

I did it all by myself, without my son Tom having to help me. Taking a sip of tea while enjoying the warm glow of the setting sun makes me feel proud and happy.
