Richard Gere’s European Escape: Why He’s Leaving the U.S. for Good

Richard Gere is closing the curtain on his American chapter. The iconic actor, beloved for films like An Officer and a Gentleman and Arbitrage, is packing up his life and moving to Spain with his wife, Alejandra Silva, and their two boys.

The decision, Gere says, was years in the making. “I’ve spent my career in the U.S., but my heart is leading me elsewhere now,” he shared. “Spain feels like home in a way Hollywood never did.”

Gere, who married Silva in 2018, praised Spain’s vibrant culture and tight-knit family values. “There’s a warmth there that’s hard to replicate,” he said. “I want my kids to grow up surrounded by that joy.”

The couple sold their Connecticut estate to make the move official, signaling their commitment to this new adventure. For Gere, who has long prioritized spirituality and family over fame, the relocation is a natural next step.

Though he’ll always be a Hollywood legend, Gere seems ready to leave the industry’s hustle behind. In Spain, he’ll focus on raising his sons, practicing meditation, and savoring life’s simple pleasures—proving that sometimes, the happiest endings happen off-screen.
