A Mother’s Journey to Uncover Her Son’s Secrets

My 15-year-old son had been acting differently for months. He used to be so open and cheerful, but lately, he had become quiet and distant. I told myself it was just a phase, but something felt off. One night, while cleaning, I found his backpack in the corner. A sudden worry came over me, and I opened it. Inside, I discovered a package of diapers.

I was stunned. Why would my teenage son need diapers? Was he hiding something? My mind raced with possibilities, each more troubling than the last. I knew I had to find out what was going on, but I didn’t want to confront him directly. Instead, I decided to follow him the next day.

The changes in him had been small at first—missed conversations, distant looks, and hesitation when I asked him questions. I had thought it was just part of growing up. But now, with the diapers as evidence, I realized there was more to his behavior than I had realized.

As I followed him that morning, I noticed how careful he was—glancing over his shoulder, holding his backpack tightly. He seemed to be carrying a heavy burden. When school ended, I trailed him to an unfamiliar part of town.

He stopped in front of an old, neglected house. The paint was peeling, and the yard was overgrown. It looked abandoned, but he pulled out a key and went inside. My heart raced as I hesitated. What was he doing here? Who had given him that key?

I knew I should turn back, but I had to know the truth. As I stepped closer to the door, a voice from inside sent a chill down my spine.

“You shouldn’t be here.”
