CBS Faces Backlash from Trump Over Harris Interview Edits

Donald Trump has escalated his criticism of CBS, calling for the network’s closure over its handling of a 60 Minutes interview with Vice President Kamala Harris.

The controversy began in October when Trump and his supporters accused CBS of selectively editing the segment to favor Harris. After facing legal challenges, CBS released the full, unedited interview. While many found nothing problematic in the footage, Trump and his loyalists declared it a scandal. On Truth Social, Trump accused CBS of removing Harris’ negative responses and substituting them with more polished answers, alleging this amounted to election fraud.

Despite Harris losing the November 2024 election, Trump insists CBS influenced the race in her favor. He has demanded that CBS lose its broadcasting license and that those responsible face repercussions. Legal experts point out, however, that the FCC cannot revoke licenses of networks like CBS.

Trump further linked this issue to broader conspiracy theories about federal funding influencing media coverage, though no credible evidence supports these claims. CBS maintains that the edits were made for timing purposes and were entirely above board. As tensions mount, Trump’s FCC chairman, Brendan Carr, may take steps against the network if directed.
