Davina McCall, a much-loved television star, has revealed she is undergoing brain surgery after being diagnosed with a rare and benign tumor. On November 15, McCall shared an emotional plea with her followers, asking for their prayers and support as she faced this challenging moment. Her partner, Michael Douglas, confirmed the news in an Instagram video, noting that she would need time to recover from the procedure. McCall explained that her condition was extremely rare, affecting only “three in a million.”
Her diagnosis came unexpectedly after what she thought was a routine health check. The results showed she had a colloid cyst, a benign brain tumor that required urgent attention due to its size and position. Initially overwhelmed by the news, McCall spent time consulting various neurosurgeons before deciding on surgery. At 57, she explained that the tumor, measuring 14 millimeters, had to be removed to prevent serious health complications.
In a pre-recorded message shared on the morning of her surgery, McCall explained the details of the procedure, called a craniotomy. Surgeons would access her brain through the top and sides of her skull to remove the tumor. Despite the seriousness of the operation, McCall kept her trademark humor intact, saying, “They’ll go in, take it out, and that’s it—Bob’s your uncle!” She urged her followers to pray for her and assured them that she felt confident and ready.
Douglas brought a touch of levity to the situation, joking that he would personally oversee the operation to ensure it was done correctly. Despite the difficulties ahead, McCall reassured her fans that she was in good spirits and trusted her medical team completely. “We’ve faced so much already,” she said, expressing optimism about her recovery.
McCall also told her supporters that she would be stepping away from her phone for a while, spending about nine days in the hospital before heading home. She encouraged them not to worry, saying, “I’m handing everything over to my surgeon, who knows exactly what he’s doing. I have full faith in him.” With a hopeful smile, she ended her message with, “See you on the other side.”
