La Salle University, where Joe had both played and coached, shared the sad news, revealing that he had recently suffered a stroke. Though the exact cause of death is unknown, Joe’s passing has left a significant void in the hearts of those who knew and admired him.

Joe’s basketball journey was nothing short of extraordinary. As the 14th overall pick in the 1975 NBA Draft, he played for the Philadelphia 76ers, San Diego Clippers, and Houston Rockets before continuing his career in Europe. La Salle University described him as a treasured member of their community, highlighting the profound impact he had as both a player and a mentor.
