The shocking death of Elizabeth’s husband Simon turned her world upside down. What she found out at his funeral, though, really shocked her. She saw something that made her blood run cold as she stood by his coffin, filled with sadness.
To their helper, Rose, they were giving them a ring that Simon had worn a year before. Elizabeth was very angry when she asked Rose where she got the ring. Her thoughts were rushing. Elizabeth was shocked by Rose’s answer: “From Simon.” We were in love.”
The church was silent as Elizabeth tried to figure out what had happened. Rose told Simon that she and she had been having an affair and that they were going to get married. Lizzie thought her whole world had turned upside down.
