Celebrated Chef Naomi Pomeroy’s Tragic Passing Leaves Culinary World in Mourning

The culinary community is reeling from the loss of Naomi Pomeroy, a talented chef and TV personality who made a lasting impact on the food scene. Her body was recovered from a river on July 17, after a search effort following her disappearance.

An investigation revealed that Pomeroy, her husband, and a friend got entangled while tubing and paddleboarding. While the others were rescued, Pomeroy tragically drowned, unable to free herself due to the paddleboard leash.

Pomeroy was a Portland culinary icon, known for her innovative restaurant Beast and cocktail bar Expatriate. She earned numerous accolades, including a James Beard Award and recognition as one of Food & Wine’s Best New Chefs.
