The incident happened when Megan, a choir director from California, tried to answer a “Living Thing” two-word puzzle. At first, Megan could only see two letters. She made a few guesses and finally found more letters. She had one last guess left, and it looked like it was “Pink Orchid” or a related word.
Pat Sajak, the host of the show, opened the package and found a $40,000 prize inside. Megan did not win the bonus, though. The choice caused a heated argument among fans, with some saying Megan clearly said “pink orchid” and others saying she said “something orchid.” Fans are split on the issue, and many want the show to change its mind about what it did.
