A family heirloom that is at the centre of a fight between two families

A 35-year-old woman went to Reddit for help during a heated argument with her husband, Joey, about a valuable family treasure. The emerald necklace, which is usually given by a mother to her oldest kid on their 14th birthday, was meant for Emily, her biological daughter.

Joey, on the other hand, demanded that the necklace be given to his daughter Sophia from a previous marriage as a sign of acceptance into the family. The family has a long-standing tradition that this idea went against.

The woman was determined to follow her family’s tradition and give Emily the necklace, which she was very excited about. Joey said she was biassed because she could easily find someone else to replace Emily.

As things got worse, Joey’s mother and sister joined him in telling the woman she needed to give the treasure to Sophia. Reddit users mostly agreed with the woman and pointed out how hypocritical Joey’s claims were. They also suggested that she give the heirloom to Emily and find Sophia a new prise.

The majority of people online agree that the woman’s relationship with her actual child should not be affected by her desire to honour family traditions and history. Will this mixed-race family be able to get along despite having different expectations?
