Actor and lifeguard Tamayo Perry dies in a terrible shark attack.

Fans of surfing and the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films are saddened by the death of Tamayo Perry, who was a skilled actor and dedicated lifeguard who was killed by a shark on Sunday.

On the north shore of Oahu, Hawaii, Perry, 49, was surfing. For eight years, he worked as a lifeguard and water safety officer there. Mayor Rick Blangiardi of Honolulu said Perry was a great person who was brave and dedicated to making sure the safety of tourists and residents.

A shark bit Perry just before 1 p.m. local time, and the attack happened near Goat Island. Lifeguards brought his body back to shore on a Jet Ski, and EMS doctors pronounced him dead at the scene.

When Tamayo died, his wife Emilia Perry took comfort in the fact that he had died doing what he loved.

People in the surfing community have come together to honour Perry. Famous surfers like Kelly Slater and Moana Jones Wong have sent their respects. They both wrote, “Your truly lived the life you loved,” and Wong promised to “cherish our memories forever.”
