A young boy named Levi was upset and angry that his parents couldn’t afford to buy him a new Halloween outfit. But his dad, Darren, shocked him with a robot costume he had made himself with lots of love.
Even though Levi was excited at first, his friends were mean to him on the day of the school costume contest. They made fun of his thrift store outfit by calling it “cheap” and “loser-like.” Levi broke down in tears backstage because he was so upset.
Just when Levi thought things couldn’t get any worse, Mr. Frederick, the school director, walked on stage dressed as a robot. But this time it wasn’t blue, it was red.
Levi was shocked and excited at the same time. Mr. Frederick, also known as “Captain Red,” thought Levi’s outfit was great and said he would have Darren make him another one next time.
What the director did taught the kids something important: love and hard work are more valuable than money. Levi’s friends said sorry, and he won the competition. He and Captain Red were both very proud to hold their trophies.
